Dr. Anton Seimon
Climatologist, Geographer, Meteorologist
Dr. Anton Seimon is an atmospheric scientist, climatologist and geographer. Each spring he spends several weeks chasing tornadoes across the Great Plains to study how their surface wind fields form and intensify.
His team runs a citizen-science effort that gathers tornado video from multiple viewpoints to reconstruct tornado behavior. The work has been funded in part by the National Geographic Society and featured in National Geographic coverage and documentaries.
He is core faculty in Bard College's Climate Science and Policy program and has a research affiliation with Appalachian State University. His climate research spans glacial retreat in the Peruvian Andes, conservation work in Africa, and a National Geographic expedition studying climate impacts on Mount Everest.
